Chitry-Les-Mines to Baye 5th July.

Stopped for lunch before the first step and we had a thunder storm which lasted just the hour, so most of  our day was dry. We could never have done 28 locks but I think we were the only boat they saw all day and the locks were all ready for us, on the advise of someone we spoke to 28 chocolate bars oil the works.

28 locks including the 16 lock staircase and 3 tunnels of the summit reach the longest is 758 meters they took 57 years to dig.

They still have some wooden gates difficult to photograph the staircase.

This was a fantastic experience even though it rained on the way.

Barometer fell a fair bit at the summit.
