Cherbourg 19th Aug.

Forced day in Cherbourg fog stopped play.

Cherbourg breakwater with fog bank just outside which filled most of the Channel it would seem.

These nice Boys are up and down the pontoon every ½ hour or so with their whippet, from their little speedboat come motorboat. Up to what I wonder.

Caudebec-en-Caux to Honfleur 13th Aug.

Just to end our River and Canal experience at 2 30 in the morning this river cruise boat wanted our berth.

Smart car ferry.

Rouen to Caudebec-en-Caux 12th Aug.

Don’t hold out much hope for our bottle making it to sea, this lump past by us heading upstream just as we turned in on Fri night. Took this shot just as we were leaving on Sun morning its heading upstream again.

Downstream from Rouen if you can only steam at five knots you can’t make Honfleur in one tide. These boys past us twice both times we caught them, when they had to stop for fuel.

Barge pusher on the slip.

                                                                       Memorial at Caudebec-en-Caux.

Luckily these big Ships have to slow down for a Pilot next to the Promenade pontoon we moored on.

There are only two realistic stops between Rouen and Honfleur both on the River side the we choose Caudebec-en-Caux 68 kilometres 5 ½ hours then you lose the tide and need to wait 4 hours for it to turn again. With 45 kilometres still to run and not allowed to move in the dark we had to spend the night. Which is fine if no Ships pass Washing machine syndrome if they do.

The wake just keeps bouncing back and forth off the banks.
